Camp Descriptions
As our name implies we specialise in the bush camp experience though we also offer the opportunity for guests to stay in lodges as part of their itineraries. Our luxury-tented camps are set up prior to your arrival. They offer twin-bedded accommodation in spacious, insect proof Meru style tents, with bathrooms en-suite. Bathrooms are roofed, insect proof, and include shower and toilet. The tents measure approximately 12ft x 16 ft (3m x 4m). Your tent will be supplied with a torch / flashlight, shampoo, body lotion, body soap, towels and face cloths, and insect repellent

All our camps are situated in remote areas and we generate our own electricity, to provide lighting in the tents. Electrical plug outlets are not available in the tented rooms with African Bush Camps so it is not possible to use such appliances such as hairdryers or electric shavers.

Our experienced camp staff is available all day to see to your every need and ensure your comfort at all times. Guests are not expected to participate in any camp duties, allowing for complete relaxation. We pride ourselves in offering delicious cuisine prepared in traditional style.

Game drives are conducted in reliable open four-wheel drive vehicles. Each vehicle is canopied and seats seven passengers. Snacks and ice cold drinks are available on all drives.

Before a light breakfast washbasins are placed outside your tent and filled with hot water to freshen up before you begin another day of adventure. On your return to the camp after a morning activity you will have an excellent brunch and time to relax. Afternoon tea and a further game drive are followed by cold drinks and snacks by the campfire, and then a delicious dinner. Meals are taken in a separate dining tent.

In the National Parks of Zimbabwe and in some private concession areas in Botswana we can also go on guided walks and night drives.

Meeting with wildlife
From experience we have established the following code of behaviour, for your safety and to minimise our impact on the wildlife you have come to see.

Please:
  • Observe the animals silently and with a minimum of disturbance to their natural activities. Loud voices on game drives or walks can frighten the animals away.
  • Never attempt to attract an animal's attention. Don't imitate animal sounds, clap your hands, pound the vehicle or throw objects.
  • Respect your guide's judgement about proximity to lions, cheetahs, leopards and other game. Don't insist that he take the vehicle closer so you can get a better photograph. A vehicle driven too close can hinder a hunting animal or cause it to abandon a hard-earned meal.
  • Don't throw out litter. It can choke or poison animals and birds and is unsightly.
  • Never attempt to feed or approach any wild animal on foot. This is especially important near lodges or in campsites where animals may have become accustomed to human visitors.
  • Off-road driving is forbidden in some areas. Don't ask the guide to break the rules.
  • Never walk on your own. Always have a guide with you.
An increasing number of guests are bringing satellite phones on safari. If possible, please don't. As most people come on safari to get away from the outside world, we feel that we must set some limitations to their use. Phones are not to be used in any of the common areas or on the vehicle or on game drives. Phones may not be used for incoming calls as the ringing may disturb other guests or the wildlife. They may only be used in the privacy of your tent, but only to retrieve messages and to dial out. Otherwise, phones should be switched off at all times.
