African Bush Camps would like to extend a heart warming welcome to Shaun Stanley who joins us as the Head of Sales for the portfolio. Having grown up in Durban, Shaun has been lucky enough to travel Southern Africa extensively, exploring some of the most remote areas of countries in this region and from a young age, his passion for the Safari Industry was formed. Once Shaun completed school, he studied to be a professional guide and conducted work experience in the guiding field in both Zambia and Zimbabwe, along the shores of Lake Kariba and on a private game reserve. His experience included guiding guests on game drives, walks, canoeing, horse-riding and boating safaris. In 2000, Shaun decided to broaden his horizons and gain some International Exposure. He moved across to the United Kingdom where he lived for 12 and half years and during this time he travelled to over 50 countries around the world.
With a passion for different cultures, wildlife and scenery Shaun explored the off-the-beaten track destinations including the Himalayas, Amazon, Dead Sea, and Madagascar amongst others. His experience in Travel throughout the world is extensive and his passion for making guests dreams a reality is profound. However, Shaun’s true passion lies in Africa and in particular the two destinations of Botswana and Zimbabwe, where Shaun believes some of the most authentic safari experiences available in Africa are on offer.
Having worked in the Tourism Industry in UK for over 7 years specialising in Tailor-made Safaris to Africa, Shaun decided it was time to move back to his routes and has now resettled in Cape Town, South Africa with his fiancé, Cristina, who is from Spain. Together Shaun and Cristina enjoy hiking, going to the beach and enjoying some of the finest Cape wines in Franschhoek. One of Shaun’s real passions is wildlife and travel photography and he has had photos published in several international publications and websites. In 2011 Shaun was selected as a semi-finalist in the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition. Shaun brings with him a well rounded overview of the Travel Industry from both a guide and operator perspective, as well as an Agent perspective. In addition, his knowledge of the African continent, and specifically of Botswana and Zimbabwe is outstanding. We are delighted to have Shaun on board and have no doubts you will benefit from his presence at the African Bush Camps portfolio.
