Botswana Mobile Safaris
With the busy season coming in full swing and availability becoming more of a challenge for our camps and sites for our Botswana Mobile Tented Safaris, we have gone ahead and secured mobile sites to be able to offer some fantastic Set Departures for 2008. These will guarantee departures based on a minimum of ONLY 2 people as opposed to our requested safaris which depart on a minimum of 4 people. This means that you will be able to choose between doing a 4 night Mobile in Moremi, or doing a 3 night mobile in Khwai, even better doing the entire 7 night safari which will be the ultimate Botswana safari to be topped with finishing up at Linyanti Bush Camp.

Linyanti Bush Camp Update
The Linyanti marsh that has not seen a flow of water for over twenty years broke that spell this year in January with amazing floods that brought in incredible bird life in the area. As the water has started to subside and inland water holes dry up, the big herds of elephants have started to move back towards the marsh. We are expecting our large herds of buffalo to start moving through the area in the next month and following that the Zebra migration from Savuti and Mabhabe Depression to start coming through on their way to the Chobe River front. Lots of exciting months ahead as we wait to see what the Okavango floods have in store for us and how they will affect the Linyanti River.
Somalisa Camp Conservation and investing in the future generations
In efforts to assist national parks and the on-going efforts by stake holders of Hwange and other conservation groups, African Bush Camps has initiated a Conservation project called “aManzi” which means water in Ndebele. Somalisa will this year be Managing Manga III waterhole and assisting with the management and the up-keep of the Manga area which is vital for the survival of some of the habitat specific wildlife found in the area such as Roan antelope (an endangered species).
After Manga III, Nkawazana water hole will be the next pan to get working again and that will provide the wildlife in that area with access to consistent water thereby spreading the impact that animals such as elephants have on the vegetation, resulting in the survival of large key indigenous trees. Please contact us at amanzi@africanbushcamps.com to be a part of these conservation efforts.
We believe that the future of conservation lies in the hands of local communities that will see to the protection of the wildlife in their immediate areas where they live. One of our ways to expose them to the real benefits of wildlife and the wilderness areas is to allow the future generations access to a reasonable education through “tourism dollars”.
Somalisa Camp continues to support Main Camp primary school of about 100 school kids of which up to a third of them are orphans. Some of the support is in the form of school fees and uniforms for all the orphans, stationery for the school, development of an industry centre as well as senior school and university scholarships programmes. We would love you to be a part of this project, contact us at info@africanbushcamps.com
