Safari News – End of year safari specials, a Wild Dog safari destination and visitor's book
June and July have provided a spectacle and amazing game viewing experience for those who travelled to Khwai Community Game Reserve, which is situated in Botswana north of the Moremi Game Reserve. The endangered Wild Dog, also known as the Painted Hunting Dog, took advantage of an abandoned Hyena den not too far from Khwai Tented Camp and we have had the pleasure of interacting with them over the last 2 months. Young puppies always seem to find a soft spot in everyone hearts.
Now has been the time of the year when these rare animals den and breed, and we are confident that we will be able to share the same experiences next year. The dogs move and cover vast distances; however most of the time they will use the same den site as the previous years, provided that there are no disturbances of any sort. So for those of you that would like to fill your heart's content with these magnificent animals, please mark your calendars for 2011 June and July, you will stand a very high chance of spending a lot of time watching and observing the Wild Dogs in their natural habitat in their prime breeding period. Look out for 2011 Wild Dog Photographic Safari which includes Botswana and Zimbabwe featuring Khwai, Mana Pools and Malilangwe Game Reserve.
Meet Mark Van Zuydam of Kanga Bush Camp, Mana Pools
I just spent some time with Mark who recently joined us as our Camp Manager at Kanga Bush Camp. He has vast experience having spent many years canoeing the Zambezi River, walking the raw wilderness of Matusadona National Park alongside Lake Kariba and most of all guiding in Mana Pools. Our mission was in actual fact to find an old bush landing strip called Dandawa, which we intend on putting back on the map and use it as an airstrip for our camp. It turned out to be an informative walk, where we walked past remnants of an old village; it also turned out to be action packed when we came across a small elephant family and very active warthogs...
We have introduced a few year-end-specials, which we hope will entice you to throw caution to the winds and visit us before the year is over. These specials give you access to some of the most incredible places in Africa at great value costs.
