Opening of two new airstrips to our Zimbabwe Camps
Manga airstrip approved earlier this week, is our newest landing strip in the heart of Hwange national park which has been rated by The Civil Aviation Inspector as “the best bush landing airstrip in Zimbabwe”. The airstrip is about 30 minutes drive away from the Somalisa Private Concession where Somalisa Camp and our new Somalisa Acacia are located.

Dandawa airstrip in Mana Pools services our Kanga Camp and has now been operating over the last couple of months. It is less than 30 minutes from Kanga Camp and incorporates a beautiful and scenic drive through the Ruckomechi River and Chivava which form the western boundary of our private concession in this remote and stunning piece of our own private Africa.

Kanga under the Stars
This special and unique “value added” experience of being able to sleep as close as possible to nature is now fully operational. Situated on wooden decked platforms on the banks of a seasonal riverbed, guests visiting Kanga Camp for three nights or more are given the option to spend one night on a platform under the stars. This is a unique “must-do” experience, especially in Mana Pools where light and sound pollution is non-existent.

Water Activities in the Linyanti
After much exploration and observing the natural processes of a river that had been dry for a period of 25 years, we are now 100% comfortable to offer Mokoro excursions on the Linyanti river, for guests staying at Linyanti Bush Camp, Linyanti Ebony and Saile Tented Camp. Boating has unfortunately been delayed and will be starting at the end of August. Fishing activities started beginning of the season and have proved to be popular and of great value for enthusiasts and keen fishermen alike. Guests are being briefed on arrival of the various activity options available to them on the concession during their stay with us.
Extra Site for Saile Tented Camp
We are pleased to announce that we have managed to secure the operating rights for another site for our adventure Saile Tented Camp. The site borders on our private concession and is within the Chobe National Park but in the Linyanti over- looking permanent water lagoons. Most game activities will be conducted on our private concession with access to the boating, mokoro and walking activities.

Temporary Re-Location of Khwai Tented Camp
Due to community disturbances and irregularities with the paperwork and authorisation of the community to legally utilise tourism sites by way of hiring camp sites to operators, we have temporarily relocated Khwai Tented Camp to the area of Mankwe where we have a been allocated a temporary private site. During this time most activities will still be conducted in the Khwai area and guests will continue flying into Khwai airstrip. The drives from camp to the airstrip will be longer (1.5hrs) but will be incorporated as part of a game drive through the heart of the Khwai area. The game drives and activities away from camp will be a lot longer in the form of picnic breakfast and lunches accordingly. We believe the authorities are working tirelessly to assist the community in attaining the correct documents and rights as soon as possible, so as to minimise any impact of any of the tourism activities in the area.
