Peak Season Predators 4 – Linyanti Bush Camp & Linyanti Ebony

Lions prey on Elephants in the Linyanti Concession Botswana

The Lions in the Linyanti concession have been sighted on a few occasions, feeding off of elephant carcasses in the area. Whilst notoriously Lions will run away from Elephants, there have been some instances where Lion prides have become specialized killers, targeting Elephants as their major source of prey. One such instance is the Savuti pride in Botswana that was documented by the BBC in collaboration with National Geographic in 2006.

Our professional guides at Linyanti Bush Camp believe that the lions they have seeing on our concession during the dry season, are not specialized killers and have rather been opportunists feeding off an elephant that has died of natural causes.
