Zimbabwe ‘Best African Destination’

Zimbabwe Tourism Authority has confirmed that Zimbabwe has been selected as the ‘Best African Destination‘ for the recording of a Top German reality show. The seal of approval was granted by the German Entertainment Television station ‘Redseven TV‘ who recently visited the country and recording is currently taking place for the Documentary titled ‘Million Dollar Model‘ which will be aired on Redseven TV starting from September 2012.

Chosen for its unique scenery, flora and fauna, as well as the majestic setting of Victoria Falls, the inclusion of Zimbabwe in the Documentary is set to further spotlight the country and compliments the marketing and PR efforts of ZTA in Europe. Statistics released by ZTA show that German arrivals entering Zimbabwe increased by an estimated 44% in 2011.

RedSeven TV has over 5 million viewers based in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. Chief Executive of the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, Mr Karikoga Kaseke said, “We are excited about this project poised to portray the attractiveness of this destination, and given the latest increased interest by the German market, 2012 is projected to witness a 9 % increase in arrivals from this top spending primary source market.”

The ‘Million Dollar Model‘ documentary will include top destinations such as Iceland and Israel. ZTA confirmed that the selection of Zimbabwe ahead of other destinations further confirms the increasing confidence and popularity of Zimbabwe as a tourist attraction in the worldwide market.
